Co-Head Coaches (seventh season)
Simon Fraser University Men's Lacrosse
2010-2011 will be Jeff Cathrea and Brent Hoskins seventh season as Co-Head Coaches of the men's lacrosse team at Simon Fraser University. Through six seasons, they have accumulated an impressive record of 67-23 (.744) and a PNCLL Conference record of 46-9 (.836). Under Cathrea and Hoskins, the Clan have appeared in the PNCLL Final Four Conference Championship each of the last six years, reaching the finals in 2005, 2007 and 2010 and winning back-to-back Conference Championships in 2008 and 2009. They have also led the Clan to three straight National Championship Tournament appearances, most recently playing in the 2010 MCLA Semi-Finals after reaching the Quarterfinals in 2008 and 2009. Since the inception of the program in 1996, Fraser has won an unprecedented eight (8) Conference Championships and ranks 5th all-time with ten (10) National Championship Tournament appearances.
In just six seasons, their teams have produced seventeen (17) All-Americans (5 x 1st Team All-Americans) and fifty-three (53) PNCLL All-Conference selections (24 x 1st Team All-Conference). Away from the field, both Cathrea and Hoskins place a great deal of emphasis on academics and their players have excelled in the classroom, producing the programs first nine (9) MCLA Scholar Athletes (Academic All-Americans) and maintaining the programs best academic record. In 2008, Cathrea and Hoskins set the school record for wins in a season with sixteen (16). They also hold the school record for wins in a career at fifty-seven (67) and were named PNCLL Coaches of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Additionally, under Cathrea and Hoskins leadership, Simon Fraser University became the first institution outside of the United States to be awarded the James "Ace" Adams Sportsmanship Award (District 11); an award given by the US Lacrosse Men's Division Officials Council, College Officials Committee.
Outside of their success at the collegiate level, Cathrea and Hoskins have coached five (6) SFU players selected in National Lacrosse League (NLL) professional draft and two (2) Clan players who have gone to represent their countries at the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) World Championships, including one player who also represented his country at the European Championships.
